Keebler
At his recent check-up, it was discovered that Keebler has retained deciduous teeth…in plain language it means he never lost her baby canine teeth. Retained deciduous teeth can also cause crowding, malformed jaws, early loss of adult teeth, pain, and numerous other dental health problems. We didn’t want poor Keebler to have to deal with any of these problems…she is such a sweet and gentle soul. She has undergone oral surgery to remove the teeth and is recovering well. Keebler is a real trooper!!
Baker
Baker, named for his expert biscuit making ability, initially showed up on a concerned neighbor’s doorstep in the dead of winter. Noting that he was non-weight bearing on his rear leg, they scooped him up and brought him to a local shelter only to be told that he didn’t have a microchip, and the shelter was unable to treat him or provide him shelter. Despite being very friendly, efforts to find an owner were futile.
Unfortunately, this is a frequent consequence for so many cats living on the streets. Many were once owned, but discarded when “owners” decide they are no longer wanted. Unable to keep Baker themselves, the finders were desperate to find him a rescue and get his injury addressed. They contacted ACDC and this kitty’s journey of recovery began. An exam and x-rays confirmed that the toes on his left hind leg had decreased range of motion and were misaligned. How this happened is anyone’s guess. The veterinarian was concerned that amputation of the toes would leave the kitty without enough remaining toes to be comfortably weight bearing. It was decided to cage rest Baker and give him pain medication and laser treatments to see if he could regain use of the leg before resorting to more invasive measures. We are happy to report that Baker has recovered well. He jumps and plays seemingly unbothered by his previous injury. He is now patiently waiting for his forever home.
Bart
Bart is a volunteer favorite, his favorite position is perched on a shoulder…. but has been very unlucky health-wise. As a very young kitten he was rescued with his sister Lisa, from unsafe outdoor conitions. Both seemed to have a rough start with a chest infection and some breathing issues, but while Lisa was able to recover, Bart still had some lingering chest congestion. After multiple medication trials, his breathing never seemed quite normal and our veterinarian was stumped. Bart needed a cardiologist consult-which ACDC Rescue arranged right away. In the end, Bart doesn’t have any heart problems and was cleared for his breathing issues, but as soon as his heart was cleared he developed a painful dry eye condition. Bart suffers from keratoconjuctivitis sicca, which means he has low to no tear production. His eyes become so painful when he suffers a flare that it pains him to open them. Bart has endured multiple medication trials and has seen a veterinary opthamologist in order to treat his eyes. We hope to have him available for adoption soon, he will bring a family so much love and affection…
Royce
Royce, with his heartwarming blue eyes and gentle spirit, is in desperate need of your support. Despite his charming appearance, Royce has been battling a persistent skin condition. Those cute scarves and collars he sports aren’t a fashion statement – they’re essential to stop him from scratching his raw, infected skin around his head and neck. His journey has been a whirlwind of vet visits, medications, and dietary trials, all with limited success. ACDC Rescue has taken Royce to a specialist for more comprehensive testing and treatment after extensive vet bills. He’s recently undergone specialized bloodwork, which alone cost $750, and his treatment will likely exceed $1500.
Royce’s journey has been fraught with discomfort, but he’s faced it all with unwavering strength. His skin condition has been a challenging ordeal, not just for him but for his dedicated foster home and the rescue organization. Royce’s suffering has already cost ACDC Rescue over $1200 in food, supplies, and other medications, and further expenses are anticipated for his follow-up visits and specialized medication. Your generosity can make a significant difference in Royce’s life and help him finally find the loving home he truly deserves. Please join us in giving this sweet cat the chance for a happier and healthier future
Royce is currently undergoing immunotherapy (allergy shots) in order to alleviate the pain from his skin conditions.
Cleocatra
Cleocatra (and her kittens) were abandoned by her owner to live on the street. On intake it was noted that she had severe inflammation, gum recession and gingivitis on the left side of her mouth. The area bled easily and it was obvious that this poor girl was in pain. Our veterinary team put her on antibiotics, but the only way to hopefully decrease the inflammation and rid her of the pain is to have dental surgery and remove the affected teeth. Despite her condition, Cleocatra is still sweet and loving and will give head bops to her foster mom.
Cleocatra underwent surgery to remove multiple teeth and she is still underging treatment related to inflammation and gum disease. She has such a vibrant spirit!!
